Avery's Room - The Crib

We finally got around to putting Avery's Crib up this past weekend. It'd been setting in it's box for over a month.

First of all though, way back when, we found out that Cohen's crib had been recalled. At first I debated whether or not we really needed to return it or not. But then I remembered I need to be a responsible parent and also that it would be lots of fun to pick out a new crib and one that was perhaps a little more girly. The original crib was purchased from Wally World, so I was pretty limited in what I could get. I was really wanting a Jenny Lind crib, but unfortunately they didn't have that option. So, we settled for her baby sister (she hasn't grown into her turned spindles on her sides yet). Even though it's not a Jenny Lind, I am excited about the outcome. Plus I got some extra spending money because of the difference. Bonus!

Now I can get working on the bedskirt!!

Scenes from the Weekend

Another cameraless weekend. I think it may be pregnancy brain, or that I'm just too lazy, forgetful, uncomfortable. Not sure, maybe any and all of the above. Nevertheless it was a busy weekend. Jason and Cohen washed the cars

we celebrated family birthdays, Father's Day, and finally put the crib together.

I'm finding on the weekends I need a nap more than any other day of the week. Most likely because it's a one woman show most the week and by the time the weekend hits, I'm too exhausted to do much without taking a nap. T minus 10 weeks!

Happy First Day of Summer!

Today is the first day of summer! Although here in FL it's been feeling that way for weeks now. This summer we are looking forward to the new addition to our family. And trying our best to stay cool.

Scenes From the Weekend

Yet another fun and sad weekend. It's been really hot in FL this summer. We are already reaching the low 100's and for this pregnant lady, that feels like a sauna. And I still have 2.5 months left. So, to cool off, our Engaged and Young Married's Group went to the Springs on Saturday. We had the perfect weather and the water felt so good. At this particular spring, you can rent inner tubes and float away down the natural river. I think it also helps you ease into the cold of the water, unless of course you decide to just jump in and risk it all. It's about a five minute float down the river where is takes you to a pool and then into another wider river. Cohen loved to hang over the side of the tube and look for fish and splash around. His newest thing, that he typically does in the bath, is to dip his bangs in the water and let the water run down his face. So, he did that as well. I could have stayed in that water all day. After that we headed over to one of the couple's home and had some lamb ribs and hot dogs. By the time we got home, we were exhausted.

(the story goes that sharks would swim up the springs some years ago and because they then had nowhere to go they would then die. so if you look hard enough, you can find sharks teeth)

Sunday we went to lunch with friends after church to send off our best friends. We helped them finish packing that day and said our goodbyes. Yesterday was a really hard day.

Cohen's 2 Year Old Photos

I finally took Cohen out to take his photos for turning 2. He wasn't being super cooperative. I think it has something to do with turning 2. You don't have to listen to Mommy any more. You're a big boy. I didn't sweat it though. Just tried to snap a few and get to the rest of our errands.

Here are my faves:

Our First Ever Stay-cation

Jason and I try to go on two vacations a year. With the exception of the year of Cohen and now this upcoming year of Avery. We try for a Family Vacation and a vacation just the two of us.

Because we knew we wouldn't get a vacation just the two of us this coming year we decided to get away for 3 days, just the two of us (queue Will Smith Song). We headed out to Saratoga Springs, a Disney Resort, with large appetites and our bathing suits.

The first evening we ate the Restaurant Sanaa, it's an African themed restuarant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The meal was delicious, especially the naan bread with three different spreads.

But I think the most amazing part was while you were eating you were able to see a lot of the animals roaming around the resort. The rooms face a large field where you can see Zebras, Giraffes, Cattle, and so much more. And in the evenings they have a fire going and you can just sit out there and watch the animals. We've decided it's somewhere we want to take the kids and follow up with a day at the Animal Kingdom Park.

Later that evening we walked through Downtown Disney, got some ice cream and people watched!

We wanted a chocolate covered apple with reeses, but with a $9 price tag, we were cheap. It was a wonderful end to our first night.

The next morning we had a big breakfast then went to go lay out by the pool. It was really hot, so I think we only laid out for about 20 minutes before we needed to get in the pool.

That evening we went to the Polynesian Resort for Dinner. I of course forgot our camera, so we have no proof of the deliciousness that filled our stomachs. Except for maybe the receipt. At their restaurant O'hana, they have an all you can eat buffet, but they bring the food to you. It was all so good, hawaiian bread, salad with a honey lime dressing, wings, dumplings, noodles, steamed veggies, steak, shrimp, pork, chicken, and to top it off, bread pudding with vanilla ice cream topped with caramel. I could barely walk after that.

We then went to go watch The Frog Princess under the stars. We had more pool time the next day before we headed back to pick up the little man.

It was just what we both needed. To reconnect as a married couple and just relax and not worry about anything.

Scenes From the Weekend

Exhausting. Fun. Sad. That pretty much sums up our weekend. Saturday we got back from a stay-cation, just Jay and I, more on that later. Then on Sunday we threw our best friends a going away party.

Our friends Josh and Kelly are truly following God's Path for their lives. They are headed to Colorado next Monday so that Josh can go to Seminary School. Not only have they been amazing friends that we have become accountable to and enjoy the company of immensely but they are amazing examples of Christ and how if we only live for Christ he will bless us in many ways.

We will miss them terribly but know that friendship like theirs will never end.

Cohen's 2nd Birthday Party - The Photobooth

Here are some photos from the Photo booth I set up. Unfortunately it wasn't in the best location in our home. But it was still a lot of fun.
