Deck the Halls

I debated decorating for Christmas this year. There were quite a few things that kept me from going all out. Cohen being 18 months and how many times do I really want to tell him Stop, not hosting, over the decor of the house, and generally wasn't feeling it I suppose. But I did manage to put up our wreaths, stockings and a 4.5 foot Christmas tree (ornament-less). Now, a part of me wishes I would have decorated...oh well, maybe next year I will go all out.

Meeting Santa

Jason took the day off of work today, so we decided since we hadn't seen Santa yet, that we would take Cohen to go do so. What I didn't realize is that you have to have a minimum purchase in order to take pics yourself. So, seeing as how we didn't have the money, I decided to just go ahead and snap a few. My husband called me a rebel. I told him they were ripping us off. Oh well, last time we will see a Mall Santa. We plan on going to Disney at Christmas every year. Where there is a free Santa. And he really is free, because we don't have to pay to get into the park either! Here are my sneaky, rebel photos.

The Weekend in Photos

We had a pretty relaxing weekend. Friday evening after I got my hair cut we went to watch a friend play at our Church for their Coffee Night. It's something they are doing once a month right now where a member performs some songs, covers, originals, christian music, etc. All set in the foyer of the church by the cafe. They really did a great job of setting the ambiance.

Saturday morning I took Cohen to a friends birthday party where all the kids played, ate, and enjoyed a lovely puppet show.

And then we just relaxed the rest of the weekend. Cohen got some more mommy time Sunday evening while Daddy went caroling (I can't sing and don't find it enjoyable, but I love music).

It's all gone

So, after about a year of debating with myself, I finally took the plunge and decided to chop off my hair. And I mean really chop it off. I haven't had my hair short since 1st grade. But I figured it's just hair, if I don't like it, it'll just grow back (which was a huge step in and of itself).

I'm really liking the look of it and just may keep it for a while.

Winter White Out

While a great portion of the country is having their version of a winter white out, snow, we Floridians are having our version. Fog.

Build-A-Bear

Today we took Cohen to Build-A-Bear. We've wanted to get him one before he was born, but either didn't have the time or had other priorities. But this year we decided that we would get him one for one of his Christmas presents.

We let him out of the stroller to see if he would gravitate to any of them and to see what he would do. Well, he gravitated to any that he could get his hands on. If he knew what kind of animal it was he would make an animal sound. And then he would proceed by kissing it and strangling it. Who knows what he thinks of of stuffed animals. Yesterday when I was shopping with my MIL for Cohen, she handed him a stuffed animal and he proceeded to punch it. I'm not sure where he gets all this aggression. He's all boy that's for sure.

We named his build-a-bear Boone for lack of anything coming to the brain. Plus we figured Cohen will eventually name him all his own. It was fun. Not sure if he will become attached to it or not...he hasn't become attached to anything so far. Which I'm actually pretty happy about. We want him to be independent. Anyways, that's a whole other conversation.

We'll see what happens Christmas morning!

Uncle Mikey is Home

Today we picked up my bro from the airport!! It was sooo good to see him. He has the next three weeks off from the Army and then he will be deployed to Afganistan. We didn't think he would be home for Christmas this year, so this is definitely a wonderful Christmas!!!!

Girl's Christmas Party

Every year one of my dearest friends throws a Christmas Party for all her girlfriends and it's open to anyone, who's a girl, of course. She lives near the historic part of the city. So, there are no subdivisions, just tons of homes and some shops from the 1920's to present. The best part of the evening is the Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt. The night before her and her husband go around scoping out different decorated homes and coming up with clues for each one where we then have to find them and take a picture. It's a night where no kids should be out playing and nobody walking their dogs because there are crazy ladies speeding down the streets snapping pictures of your home and who knows what may happen.

Two years ago my team almost won, but this year, we did!!! It was so much fun. We then end the evening eating lots of food and having a gift exchange.

If you don't have a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt you do every year, I highly recommend it!!

Coloring

Yesterday I decided to try out coloring with Cohen. I wasn't sure what age I should start this at; if it would even interest him or what. But I love art and I want my kids to enjoy art. And yesterday was a rainy day, so I needed to come up with something to do inside.

I pulled out some old crayons and sketch paper and we got down on the floor and had a lot of fun. It was cute to see him scribble around and at times really concentrate on what he was doing. I may try it again today. And I'm thinking I want to frame some up in the living room.

The Weekend in Photos

This past Sunday we had our annual Christmas Dinner Party with our Engaged and Young Married's Group from Church. Only this year we joined forces with the Singles Ministry and the Young Professionals Ministry. It is by far my most favorite event to plan and be apart of.

It's a guaranteed night to dress up and have a wonderful formal dinner. And after wards we play the White Elephant Game. We've had some fun things every year, from an empty roll of toilet paper, sports cups, rusted tools to the ones that come back for year like the wood rooster and framed name with random pictures in it.

This year was no different with old computer monitors, Viagra scrubs, air fresheners and so much more. I don't think this party will ever get old. Here are just a few pics from the party.

18 Months

Our little monster turned 18 months old on Monday. I can't believe it. These last 18 months have been filled with a lot of fun. I'm so excited to see this little man grow into a Godly Man.

We love you Cohen!
