Avery - 11 Months

Photobucket

Just one more month and this little pistol is going to be a year old. I know I've said it many times before, but this time has really gone by so fast. I'm excited though for her to be a year old. (And I'm sure a lot has to do with the fact that I'm planning on starting the weening process by then.)

What's new with Avery? She is eating a lot more table foods. I think she is pretty much done with purees, she doesn't really eat much of them anymore. She is walking everywhere. Not on her own, she likes to hold our fingers or use her walker, but she loves to walk all day long, everywhere. She is still very much a Momma's girl. And I am still trying to enjoy these moments. I know one day she will be a Daddy's girl. But she does say "Hi Da" a lot whenever she sees him. It is really cute.

And as mentioned before, we now call her pistol or firecracker. She has developed quite the personality. And she is not afraid to show it and let you know how she is feeling. She is strong willed if you will.

She's still loads of fun too. She has us laughing at silly things she does. She is just too cute. And I am really excited for her birthday party coming up!

Celebrating 7 Years

Photobucket

Yesterday Jason and I celebrated 7 years of marriage! It is so crazy to think that we have been married that long. Time really flies.

This year I decided to take charge and plan what we would to for our anniversary. I made a simple picnic lunch for us. So, after we went to church and dropped the kiddos off at the Abuelitos, we headed to one of our favorite areas. We went to this park filled with tons of trees that is right on a lake. We spread out our blanket, took off our shoes, enjoyed a simple lunch and each others company.

It has been really hot and muggy here lately. And we were having our picnic at noon. So you can imagine how hot that is. But God blessed us with amazing weather. We were sitting below a canopy of trees, with the sun coming in and out behind the clouds, and a nice breeze off of the water. It couldn't have been any better.

After eating our lunch we just hung around talking to each other. About everything. And of course we took some pictures as well! There weren't many people around at all, so it was like we were all alone. No distractions. Just each other.

Photobucket

We haven't been getting many pictures of just the two of us, so without a tripod, I tried to get some good pictures. Tried. But I am happy we got some.

Despite getting lost, which wasn't all that bad since it's beautiful in that area of town, with amazing homes and equally amazing landscaping, it was the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. It was time we definitely needed with each other. I could have stayed with Jason in that park on the water, under the canopy of the tress, forever. I love you jay and Happy 7 years!!

And I forgot to take a picture of our finished product. I'll do that sometime...

Tubing at Rock Springs

Over the weekend we headed out to Rock Springs for some natural lazy river tubing and fun with our Engaged and Young Marrieds Group. I think we have officially said that this will be an annual event.

Photobucket

The springs get full really fast here, so we got there early and it almost seemed like we were the first ones there. Which was fine with us. It just meant we got to pick where we wanted to be and not be stuck somewhere. It was the perfect weather for the springs as well. Partly cloudy in the morning; but the clouds broke just in time to warm you up enough to want to get into the cold water.

Cohen wasn't a big fan of the cold water. He went down with Daddy the first time and did not want to go back in. So he just hung out where we had camped out. He did go one other time with me, but he sat with me in the tube, not wanting to touch the water.

Avery on the other hand loved it. She was splashing and kicking. Even dancing. And for about half the ride, she would stick her hand in the water then try to drink the water from her fingers. It was cute. I wish I had a picture of her in the water. She was so adorable.

And of course both kids like to eat. Cohen was mooching off of anyone who would give him anything. Of course he had to ask politely. But man, that boy acts as if he never eats.

It was definitely a fun day and a much needed fun day with friends and family. I am already itching to go back.

Finally an Almost Completed Compost Bin

Photobucket

I have been trying to get this thing built well over a year ago...it may even be 2 years ago. But it's finally almost complete. lol. We got some untreated wood pallets from a friend some time ago in hopes of constructing our own compost bins. I found someone online through a blog who did this and I decided to copy. I thought it would be a more economical way. I needed to add some extra slats to the pallets and then screw them all together with some 8' pieces of wood. As you can see, I still need to get a few more boards and then we will be well on our way to making our own compost. I am so excited!! No more burying or throwing out waste that can be useful. And as you can see there will be three separate bins. Hopefully it will yield enough compost for our gardening needs.
